You will be notified but, there has to be a court order to do this. They actually have to go to small claims court. They can't just hire an attorney and start taking money out of your check. Your employer should notify you as well because they will receive legal notification. If this is an IRS situatuion then they will just seize the money. Check with the labor board in your state to learn about your rights. http://www.lni.wa.gov/

I work at Washington Mutual - Are there circumstances where I might not receive severance if I am laid off

I work at Washington Mutual - Are there circumstances where I might not receive severance if I am laid off?
What if the company goes bankrupt...would I still receive severance if this happens? Or what if just my division goes under (I work in the mortgage division)...could I still get it then? I have worked here for 7 years so I would hope that I would get somthing!

If WAMU is like most major companies they will provide a written plan for how severance works. Two things that may affect you are: 1. Separation date... If you leave before the comapany wants you to leave (such as if you find a new job) then you may lose some or all severance pay. 2. The company will probably ask you to sign a waiver that prevents you from suing them for almost anything that happened while you were employed by them. If you sign it they will offer you the "good" severance package. If you don't they will offer you a weak package. It is called "financial incentive" and its perfectly legal in most states. Of course poor performance near the end of your employement could get you fired (no package) as well as hurt your chances of getting a new job elsewhere so keep up the good work right up to the very last second. "Don't burn your bridges" as they say.

You can get certified online as a pharmacy tech. It helps your chances to have the certification in the States because a lot of states require it to work in a pharmacy.

Unfortunately, things that happen in other parts of the world effect us, so we must pay attention. The UN is useless. They allow dictators and tyrants to have equal say, and they think that talking can solve any problem. They pass resolution after resolution, yet never take any action when someone goes against the resolution. They rarely take any action, and, when they do, their actions are useless.

Cuz, Bush is a butt hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cuz the USA pretty much makes up the un army, since we have the most people in the un, we have the most influence.

What the . . .

There is no sucht thing as an American military presence anywhere. It is likely that you mean United Statesian military presence. There is no such a thing as Ă¢€˜AmericanĂ¢€™ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent. It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

Because, the UN doesn't have the balls to do the job. It was put together by the leftist FDR and his commie friends. They won't ever do what is right until the charter is rewritten. Personally, the UN is currently a waste of time and money. If it doesn't improve in the next 5 years, it should be closed and the building turned into a homeless shelter. I am not against the concept of what the UN is SUPPOSED to do, if they would do it.

The UN is useless. Lets start there. For example, the French were to send a large contingent of troops into Lebanon. Apparently the French define large as 200 out of 15,000. On the plus side...at least there will only be 200 hostages when the French surrender...as usual. Hope this helps.

Because when a natural disaster happens, our helicopters are there to ferry food and supplies to the needy. It's always the americans there to help everyone out, a fact that seems lost on much of the world, or at least drowned out by her critics. The United Nations is, for the most part, impotent.

it i sthere for the presavationof Democracy, and freedom. Without the American Military yo would be speaking German or Russian, an dno longer live in your Country , but in occupied planet Earth. Every Country on earth owes it's freedonm (when it has it) to American the Military.

American Government and the true will of the people are two completely different things. My brother is in the military and people always say they are proud of him for "fighting for our country".. well, he is serving his country, not fighting for it.. if he were in Afghanistan right now looking for bin laden, I could agree, but every where else.. I do not agree and A LOT of Americans feel the same. I am 100% behind my military.... most of my family is in some branch (older bro USMC and lil bro ARMY) but I do not support the powers that be who make the decisions and supposedly speak for all of the American people... that's the problem.. the world sees America as what our government does, not what the majority actually believe in... God Bless our MILITARY and bring them home safe
12 :
Ok, you say that. But when the next natural disaster happens you will be wondering when the United States is going to get there. So, you cannot have it both ways.
13 :
The United Nations is the voice of all nations. But sometimes, nations just don't agree. I do not oppose the United Nations. (I'm American) I see it's high value as a place where nations can talk.
14 :
Everyone already said but yes, the UN is useless. The South Park movie, Team America put it perfectly. "If you don't obey us...we'll send you a threatening letter!"
15 :
The U.N. doesn't do any useful work anymore, that's the problem. They even stink at humanitarian aid now because half or more of it always goes to warlords and black markets and not the people in need! Americans would love to have the U.N. be an effective governing body with the authority to decisively deal with rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea. The sad fact is that the U.N. does nothing more than pass resolutions and threaten to pass more resolutions if the rogue nation does not pay attention. It has lost both its authority and its relevance through both its actions and inaction in times of crisis. Each week, more and more Americans are sick and tired of pi$$ing more tax dollars down the drain on the U.N. We're tried of funding more than 25% of something which doesn't work and appears to only exist to insult America time and time again, instead of helping to resolve pressing world crises. It's long past time for the [U]seless [N]ations to meaningfully reform or PERISH.
16 :
American military presence is not everywhere. It is limited to the current war against terror (including the war in Iraq) and to foreign military bases left over from the cold war and to our presence in South Korea. While America no longer has an adversary like the Soviet Union to worry about, the bases are necessary in the event another power (like China, for example) were to arise and challenge us. The U.S. Navy is present around the world and is ready to respond to military problems that may involve the United States. As for the United Nations, it has never had the will or the power to respond to military conflicts.
17 :
sick minded!! they just think that they can run the world on their own as they have power.......idiots dont know that they are moving to their downfall by all these stupid activities, .....Alas Bush !!!u have brought a great damag to ur nation which they will realise soon n i sure history will never forget u for what stupidity u ahve done to ur nation
18 :
Because Bush want's to rule the world and feels if our military personnel are spread out all over the world that he (in his warped mind) somehow is "supreme Ruler".
19 :
I mean, come on! they r not everywhere, They usually go to those countries where there is still something to steal
